Londoners and visitors to the capital can now enjoy free walking tours to download or via smartphone to explore the city and her history, following sites of maritime interest from the Trafalgar Square to Thames Barrier Park.

Nelson’s Column

Nelson’s column was built between 1840 and 1843 to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson’s death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Part of the interior base was made from the 29 cannon recovered from HMS Royal George.

Admiralty Arch

Admiralty Arch takes its name from the nearby Royal Navy headquarters, though the Arch itself has no naval association.
Admiralty Arch was designed in 1910 by Sir Aston Webb (who also worked on Buckingham Palace and the Victoria and Albert Museum) to provide an elegant ceremonial passage from the hectic Trafalgar Square towards Buckingham Palace.
